Business mogul Dr. Chris Kirubi has sent a message to President Uhuru Kenyatta, ahead of his meeting with US President Donald Trump at the White House.
“My plea to President Kenyatta as he travels to meet President Donald Trump is to negotiate for easy allocation of visas for our students joining universities there. Every academic year, the US enrolls over 3000 Kenyan students and I believe preferential treatment should be given to these students,” said Kirubi.
He also asked that the two governments to link visa issuance to trade agreements like the African Growth Opportunity Act (AGOA) to support and strengthen trade partnerships.
Uhuru-Trump meeting
Chris Kirubi’s message comes hours after President Uhuru left Kenya for the United States, where he is scheduled to meet and hold talks with US President Donald Trump at the White House.
A statement from the President's office read in part that "Besides trade and regional security, President Kenyatta and President Trump will discuss ways of strengthening the blossoming Kenya-US relations focusing on the two nations’ shared democratic values and mutual interests."
