Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria has apologized to President Uhuru Kenyatta after he told the Head of State he had neglected the central region.

The MP who does not hold back his opinion was forced to ask for forgiveness after an outcry by various leaders from the region.

Speaking to journalists in Kimunyu, Gatundu South a few hours after the elders gave their statement, Kuria apologized to anyone including the president who had received the “wrong interpretation” of the message.

He also urged leaders to stop using the incident to create conflict between him and the Head of State.

“I refused to be sidetracked by those people who want to mislead people by saying that I have disrespected the president. I have never disrespected the head of state," Kuria stated.

"If any case any word that I might have uttered could have been misconstrued in any bad way. I offer my profuse apologies to the head of state and to anyone else,” he added.

Development record

A video clip which was widely shared on social media, the MP criticized the President for launching projects in other parts of the country but not Central Kenya.

Mr Kuria tore down the President, who happens to be his constituent, over his development record in Central Kenya.

Speaking in Kiambu while ushering in the new year, the Gatundu lawmaker stated: “As we usher in 2019, think very seriously. Your job is to vote after which we reward other regions with development which is not very smart.”

He then urged the crowd to ask the president to open development projects in Kiambu as he awards rehabilitated alcoholics with certificates.
