Mutahi Ngunyi's special request to Sonko ahead of Idd-ul-Azha

Will he accept?

Political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi has made a special request to Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko, ahead of Idd-ul-Azha celebrations.

In a tweet, the man known for the ‘Tyranny of Numbers’ phrase pleaded with Sonko to make sure there were no demolitions on Tuesday, August 21 to allow Muslims celebrate the “Festival of Sacrifice” peacefully.

“Make SURE there are NO Demolitions on TUESDAY. Let us CELEBRATE the Father of our Faith, ABRAHAM without STRESS. Please! SONKO. Idd-ul-Azha,” read Mutahi Ngunyi’s tweet.

His request came hours after Interior and Co-ordination of National Government Cabinet Secretary, Dr. Fred Matiang'i declared next Tuesday a public holiday to mark Idd-ul-Azha.

"It is notified for the general information of the public that, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 3 of the Public Holidays Act, the Cabinet Secretary for Interior and Co-ordination of National Government declares that Tuesday, the 21st August, 2018 be a public holiday to mark Idd-ul-Azha, 2018," read the Special Gazette Notice.
