Details of Rosemary Odinga’s health

The Odinga family had an eventful year in 2017

It was a year full of many challenges and battles – many of which ended in pyrrhic victories.

Despite the many challenges that faced him, none of them was more personal than the sudden illness that affected his daughter, Rosemary, early in the year.

Rosemary was preparing to run for the Kibra parliamentary seat until in February this year when she was diagnosed with a non-cancerous brain tumor.

The illness saw her spend time in the ICU as well as visit foreign hospitals in South Africa.

Rosemary has since kept away from the public eye but has been recovering well under the watch of her close family members.

NASA presidential ticket

On the political field, the former Prime Minister has also had to win many battles, many of which did not bring him the benefits he had hoped for.

After a cut throat competition that nearly split the NASA coalition, Odinga was picked as the presidential candidate, deputised by Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka.

Unfortunately, the ticket did not amount to much as Odinga lost both the August 8 and October 26 elections.

Supreme Court victory

Odinga made history by being the first Africa to successfully nullify a presidential election through a petition.

The September 1 ruling was another pyrrhic victory for Odinga after he withdrew from the repeat election that were eventually won by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

However, as the year comes to an end, Odinga is yet to the controversial oath of office.
