ODM Leader Raila Odinga will on December 14 receive his sixth degree from the Jaramogi University College located near his rural home in Bondo.

Odinga will be awarded an honorary degree from the public university, making it the fourth honorary degree.

In a public advert published on Tuesday, Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University said the ODM leader was honored for his exemplary service to humanity.

"The university charter believes Raila ascribes to the values of the learning institution and has rendered distinguished service in the advancement of any branch of learning or service to humanity.”

"The University Senate has therefore determined that the Right Honourable Odinga is worthy of the conferment of Honorary Degree of Doctor of Sciences (Honoris Causa),” the school’s vice chancellor Stephen Agong’ said.

The former Prime Minister also holds two academic degrees from Germany, a bachelors from University of Leipzig and a master’s degree from Technical School, Magdeburg (currently Otto-von-Guericke University Magdeburg).

Other honorary degrees

In 2008, Odinga received his first honorary doctorate of laws degree from the University of Nairobi.

In 2012, he was honored by the Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University in Tallahasee, US.

In the same year, the then Prime Minister received an honorary degree  (Doctorate of Leadership in Social Development) from Malysia’s Limkokwing University of Creative Technology.
