NTSA to be summoned after Uhuru’s order

NTSA in more trouble

Speaking to journalists on Wednesday, Kiambu Senator Kimani Wamatangi mentioned that the committee was investigating the cause of the road carnages and will be summoning NTSA management.

Wamatangi, who was elected as the Chairman of the committee, noted that they have launched the investigations in order to advise the Government on the action to be taken to stop road accidents.

The senator speculated that corruption among officials in the Authority may have contributed to the crashes.

“There is a big problem in our institutions as far as corruption is concerned. Many people have died in accidents because of corruption and substandard vehicles, which interestingly, found their way on our roads in the eyes of NTSA,” Wamatangi was quoted by the Nation.

The lawmaker added: “What we intend to do is to collect the best information by going deep into how best to deal with this problem. When the president made the directive, he must have had enough facts”.

This comes days after President Uhuru Kenyatta ordered the withdrawal of NTSA officers from the highways.

Kenyatta firmly stated that only the traffic police officers should be on the roads to maintain law and order.
