Five students of Waa Boys’ School in Kwale County were on Sunday night injured when fire broke out in a dormitory.
The fire broke out in a dormitory at around 9 pm on Sunday as the students were attending evening preps, but the cause of the inferno remains unknown.
"Personal belongings were burnt before it was contained by students and fire fighters from SGA Security," Principal Julius Changawa told the press.
He further added that 100 students who reside in the facility would be assigned to other dormitories as the school moots on the way forward.
He added: "All the students are safe. We urge parents to remain calm since the five students were taken to hospital and are stable."
County Commander Tom Odero warned that students will be punished despite their ages should they be found responsible.
Matuga MP Kassim Tandaza, who visited the school, asked the students to take their studies seriously as top performances will be rewarded with sponsorship.
The incident comes barely a week after a similar attempt to burn the school [which failed] at Msambweni Secondary School, leading to its closure.
