Sossion chased away from meeting with kicks and blows

The meeting in Mombasa has been called off due to the violent fights.

Wilson Sossion, who now holds two influential positions - Member of Parliament and KNUT Secretary General – on Thursday, maintained he won’t quit KNUT, despite being served a notice by the Labour CS Phyllis Kandie

Speaking during the conference, Sossion stated that the decision by the CS was aimed at intimidating the union for opposing ministry of education reforms. Blows were later exchanged over the legitimacy of Mr Sossion’s leadership.

The session was disrupted after a section of teachers exchanged blows and threw chairs at each other due to the difference in opinion over the matter.

A section of delegates have been chased out of the meeting as police took charge of the situation which remains tense.

Sossion was among eleven trade unionists who were advised to relinquish their positions in their respective trade unions through a Gazette Notice by Labour Cabinet Secretary Phyllis Kandie

During the meeting, outgoing chairman Mudzo Nzili and his deputy Samson Kaguma are expected to give their farewell message to teachers after they were sent on leave pending retirement.
