Use handshake to free Philomena Mwilu – Raila told

"Stop hiding behind Orengo"

ODM Leader Raila Odinga should use his handshake with President Uhuru Kenyatta to stop the corruption case against Deputy Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu, former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has said.

According to Khalwale, Mwilu was being persecuted for ruling in favour of Odinga and the NASA team during the petition that followed the August 8 presidential election.

Khalwale further claimed that Odinga was secretly supporting Mwilu's case by sending pro-ODM lawyers led by Senior Counsel James Orengo.

"RailaOdinga, many Kenyans think  Justice Philomena Mwilu’s tribulations are political. Stop hiding behind the Orengo led team of 34 defense lawyers! Just ask @UKenyatta, in the spirit of the so called handshake, not to use the fight against corruption to settle political scores," Khalwale stated.

Incidentally, the former Kakamega Senator, who also doubles as Ford Kenya Deputy Party Leader, is one of Opposition politicians who have opposed the Building Bridges Initiative famous known as the "handshake deal".

Odinga, who is in Germany, has not spoken on Mwilu's arrest and prosecution although his party has issued a statement condemning Mwilu's treatment by the DCI and the DPP.

The Deputy Chief Justice is the spouse to Senator Amos Wako of the ODM Party.
