Mr Kenyatta cancelled the trip to Kakamega county due to bad weather. Instead, the Head of State will be addressing the Governors, Senators and other stakeholders via a video link from Nairobi.

In his opening speech which he delivered in the afternoon, President Kenyatta started by apologizing.

"I was not able to join you in Kakamega due to unavoidable circumstances," he said.

Today, President Kenyatta was scheduled to participate in a panel discussion with Chief Justice David Maraga, Turkana Governor Josephat Nanok, Speaker of the National Assembly Justin Muturi and Speaker of the Senate Kenneth Lusaka and UK High Commissioner to Kenya Nic Hailey.

The conference will end on 26th April 2018 and Deputy President William Ruto is expected to close the ceremony.

At the same time National Super Alliance leader Raila Odinga is scheduled to deliver a key note speech on 25th April 2018.
