Edith Nyenze clinches Kitui West seat

She won the seat by an overwhelming margin

There was poor voter turnout in the first by-election in the 12th Parliament but Mrs Nyenze, the candidate nominated by the Wiper Party, garnered 72.67 percent of the votes cast, to convincingly beat her competitors by a landslide.

Mrs Nyenze was able to garner 14,372 votes beating her closest rival by 12,326 votes in an election where only 38 percent of the 52,042 registered voters turned up.

Mr Dennis Muli Mulwa, a youthful candidate who ran as an independent, came distant second, garnering only 2, 046 votes while Nairobi businessman Robert Mutiso Lelli of Narc-Kenya came in third with 1784 votes.
