National Super Alliance affiliated Nairobi Women Representative Esther Passaris has urged Governor Mike Sonko to appoint her to the vacancy of Deputy Governor, but on condition that she be allocated specific departments to run.
Ms Passaris has demanded that if picked as Sonko’s Deputy, she should be allowed to have Environment, Water, Education and Trade Departments under her watch, in what she terms a would-be ‘Jubilee-Nasa partnership’.
“I can only go there if I am given clear departments to run. I want environment, water, education and trade,” she said as quoted by the , insisting that her decision has been premised on the handshake spirit between President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga.

She added: “The governor needs a Deputy and if he cannot find one, then I am willing to take the position to help him.”
Igathe's Resignation
The woman representative added that she was ready to take up the position, which the governor nominated fiery lawyer Miguna Miguna, in what is understood that he [Miguna] declined.
The seat of Deputy Governor in the Nairobi County Government fell vacant following the resignation of Polycarp Igathe, who cited Sonko’s lack of trust in him to run the county in his resignation letter.
The sentiments by Passaris comes a day the Nairobi County Assembly is set to vet Miguna, who is currently in Toronto Canada, after he was forcefully removed from the country by Immigration officials over travel documents fiasco at JKIA.
Nairobi County speaker Beatrice Elachi had earlier said that she had not received any name from the governor, but was served with the name from Miguna’s lawyer, Cliff Ombeta, whom he faulted for procedure breach.
