Transport Cabinet Secretary James Macharia will now assist Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko in rehabilitating the poor situation in the citys roads.
Macharia, who is a direct appointee of President Uhuru Kenyatta, on Monday held a meeting with Sonko, just days after the head of state challenged the Nairobi county government to swiftly deal with the state of poor services in the city.
After their meeting, Sonko stated that the Ministry of Transport had agreed to collaborate with his team on improvement of city roads.
"The meeting deliberated on how Nairobi City County Government and the Ministry of Transport will work together to restore and improve the state of our roads."
"We have already formulated a joint document for various roads interventions with more focus on roads within eastlands," Sonko stated.
