Nation Media makes major management changes as CEO leaves

Kenyan media in trouble

The Nation Media Group has announced major management changes even as the company continues to face a government crackdown over coverage of NASA leader Raila Odinga.

The changes were announced by the Company's Editor-in-Chief Tom Mshindi, who also acts as the Chief Operations Officer at NMG.

The new staff changes will be effected immediately and have come only a day after the company's former CEO Joe Muganda left the Aga-Khan owned media house.

Muganda has moved to Vivo Energy as Managing Director even as the government continues with a crackdown on the media.

Mshindi stated that the changes are aimed at aligning the company with the digital trends affecting the media industry.

Peter Ngare, previously an Editorial Manager, will now take over as Editor, Taifas.

Pamela Asigi takes over as Editor, NTV reporting directly to Mshindi.

Catherine Wanyama has been appointed the Editorial Administration Manager while Mwiti Marete becomes the new Op-Ed Editor.

Peter Munaita takes over as the Head of Content, Dave Opiyo will work at the Content Desk as Assignments Editor reporting to Munaita.

Kariuki Waihenya is appointed Head of Production while Julius Sigei has been deployed to Sunday Nation as an Associate Editor while Bernard Mwinzi will work as an Associate Editor at Daily Nation.

Francis Wanyonyi will be the new Associate Editor for Saturday Nation while John Kamau will lead the Investigative desk.

Dorothy Otieno will coordinate the Newsplex Desk published on the online platform.
