Details of Governor Obado’s 8-hour grilling with DCI detectives

He was grilled on Tuesday

Details have now emerged of Migori Governor Okoth Obado’s 8-hour grilling with Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) detectives in Kisumu, on Tuesday.

Governor Obado had been summoned by the DCI to shed more light on his relationship with slain university student Sharon Otieno.

According to the Standard, the Governor, who was accompanied by his lawyers Cliff Ombeta and Roger Sagana, said he was not aware of Sharon’s murder and the reported meeting with his Personal assistant Michael Oyamo and journalist Barrack Oduor.

He stated that he knew Sharon, but the claims of his involvement in her murder were strange and political in nature.

It is reported that Governor Okoth Obado also agreed to a request by the detectives to provide his DNA samples which would be used by the homicide unit to compare to those of Sharon’s unborn child.

“They have asked for the samples but we are debating. We will see what next and let it be known my client is not under arrest,” said Obado’s lawyer Cliff Ombeta.

The governor was also asked to reveal details of his last phone conversations with Sharon, his PA Oyamo and journalist Barrack Oduor.

Governor Obado was later in the evening released and ordered to report back to the DCI on Wednesday for further interrogation.
