Itumbi issues statement after Sonko interrupted DP Ruto’s speech

Sonko caused the drama at an event attended by President Kenyatta

The director of Digital Innovations and Diaspora Communications Dennis Itumbi has issued a statement over yesterday’s unfortunate event where DP Ruto’s speech was interrupted by an angry governor Mike Sonko.

Taking to Twitter, Itumbi defended Sonko over the drama that was also witnessed by President Uhuru Kenyatta during the launch of the national tree planting exercise at Moi Forces Accademy, Nairobi.

He clarified that while the rest including himself are appointed, Sonko is a duly elected leader and anyone who wants to fight him should ask for votes in an election.

A protocol hitch saw Environment CS Keriako Tobiko skip the governor and invite the DP to give his speech before inviting the President.

A visibly angry Sonko read malice in this and grabbed the microphone, forcing the DP to retreat back to his seat.

Sonko went ahead to hit out at those undermining his administration, clarifying that the county government was still operational and demanding respect.
