NASA legislators walked out of a very crucial parliamentary process, led by Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala.

The Law makers who sit in the Roads and Transport Committee staged a walk out accusing their Jubilee counterparts of being used as voting machines.

They protested that they receive orders from their party leadership on whom they should vote for in committee leadership.

The Nasa Senators expressed their disappointment in the way the executive arm of government wants to control independent committees.

“We are a disappointed lot because we have witnessed that parliamentary committees are no longer independent but are controlled from State House,” said Malala.

Despite the protest, the five Jubilee committee members elected Kiambu Senator Kimani Wamatangi the chairman of the Roads and Transport Committee unopposed and Marsabit senator Godana Hargura as his deputy.

"It is unfortunate and if this is the way Jubilee wants things to go or transact its business, then let them do it alone," said Kitui Senator Enoch Wambua as they walked out.

Malala and four colleagues from NASA in the committee were angered by how the exercise was conducted and grieved lack of free will from their colleagues in Jubilee.

Senate committee elections started on Tuesday and have so far seen majority of Jubilee members bag the top slots in house committees.

9 committees have elected chairpersons and their deputies with five other committees expected to vote on Thursday as the elections come to an end.
