Central Kenya leaders clash with Duale and Murkomen
Murkomen, Duale gets into more trouble with Jubilee leaders
Led by Rev Peter Munga, the leaders noted that elected leaders from Central Kenya were unable to “stand up to apparent bullying by Mr Adan Duale in the National Assembly and Mr Kipchumba Murkomen in the Senate”.
Duale’s leadership in parliament has drawn criticism from a section of Jubilee legislators with some threatening to impeach him.
The disgruntled leaders also took issues with the Jubilee Chief whip for allocating parliamentary leadership slots “in a manner that did not inspire confidence”.
The leaders also disclosed deep divisions within Jubilee legislators stemming from the bitter rivalry during the Jubilee party nominations and the fear of victimization for speaking out on sensitive issues.
Munga who also serves as the Kikuyu Council of elders secretary noted that to date,Jubilee MPs from the region “are unable to constitute the regional parliamentary caucus, they are unable to present a united front in Parliament”.
The leaders who are scheduled to meet today promised to issue a joint statement on the way forward as pressure piles on President Kenyatta over cabinet appointments.
They will also release a list of key issues that they expect the Jubilee regime to address in the second term having failed to do so in the first one.
