Daring message

Senator Kipchumba Murkomen announces condition for BBI report during today’s State House visit

Majority Leader in the Senate, Senator Kipchumba Murkomen on Tuesday announced an ultimatum for supporting the BBI report which will be presented to President Uhuru Kenyatta today.

In a daring tweet laying bare the divisive factions in Jubilee, Murkomen issued the ultimatum from State House where he had been invited by President Uhuru Kenyatta to witness the handover ceremony.

The Elgeyo Marakwet Senator said he would only support the BBI report if and when ODM Leader Raila Odinga apologized and renounced purported violence by his supporters.

"We are here at SH to witness the President receiving BBI report. We shall then read and comment. But first we need the others to apologize and renounce violence. Ni hayo tu kwa sasa," the Senator said.

Murkomen is a close ally and confidant of Deputy President William Ruto whose team appears unsettled about the contents of the BBI report even before it is made public.

President Kenyatta is expected to receive the much-anticipated report today after which a public launch will follow tomorrow (Wednesday) at the Bomas of kenya.

State House had indicated that the hand over ceremony would take place at 1pm although there was an unexplained delay of at least two hours. As at the time of publishing this story, the President had not yet received the document.
