Kabogo emerges after long break, holds private meeting with Raila

Kabogo lost to Waititu in 2017's elections.

Opposition chief Raila Odinga on Tuesday met former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo in his Capitol Hill offices in Nairobi.

The ODM party twitter handle confirmed that meeting and said that the two leaders discussed issues of national importance, but failed to divulge more details.

“H.E Raila Odinga received former Kiambu governor Mr. William Kabogo at his Capitol Hill offices.

“They discussed political developments in the country with particular focus on the Building Bridges to a New Kenyan Nation initiative,” Raila’s ODM party tweeted Tuesday afternoon, in reference to a document President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga shared on March 9, after a meeting at Harambee House.

The meeting of the two leaders comes at the heel of yet another meeting in which Mr Odinga received a congratulatory message from UK’s Prime Minister Theresa May.

The congratulatory message was delivered by UK High Commissioner Nic Hailey who met with Raila at Capitol Hill, Nairobi on Monday.

"I am here to deliver congratulations from the PM and her government," Hailey said over.

"The handshake with Uhuru was a great show of leadership. It was noticed by my Prime Minister and the government in London."

Raila's spokesman Dennis Onyango said the former PM "was happy to receive Hailey who delivered Downing Street's congratulations to him and Uhuru on the handshake".
