President Uhuru Kenyatta has mourned the death of former President Daniel Moi’s son, Jonathan Toroitich Moi.

In a statement to news rooms, President Uhuru said that he received the news of Jonathan’s death with great shock.
“To Your Excellency former President Daniel Toroitich Arap Moi, your family and friends. I have received the news this morning of the passing away of my friend and brother Jonathan Toroitich Moi with great shock and disbelief,” read part of the statement.
He went on to say that Jonathan who was like a brother to him will be remembered for his contribution in the Motorsport, as a rally driver and a successful farmer.
President Uhuru Kenyatta also assured the Moi family that his thoughts and prayers were with them as they pass though this difficult time.
“JT, as Jonathan was popularly known to many of us, was a humble, kind, generous and courageous person. JT's word was always his bond, he was dependable. Many of us will always remember JT for his pioneering exploits in motorsport as a rally driver and as a successful farmer, businessman and entrepreneur,” said another part of the President’s statement.
Jonathan’s death
The news of Jonathan Moi’s death broke on Saturday morning.
According ex-President Moi’s Press Secretary Lee Njiru, the family will issue a detailed statement on his demise on Sunday.
