Feared Recce Squad neutralizes terrorists

The Elite Recce Company

The Elite Recce Company gunned down two suspected terrorists in Likoni, Mombasa County on Tuesday morning.

Reports intimated that the Recce Squad Company together with officers from the anti-terror police unit staged a morning raid where the two suspected terrorists were killed.

Residents told journalists that more than 20 police officers arrived in the house located at Dudus, Likoni and asked them to stay indoors.

Heavily armed officers who wore balaclavas raided the house where the suspects were and neighbours reported hearing gunfire that lasted for minutes.

Suspected terrorists killed in Mombasa

This is not the first time that police have gunned down suspected terrorists in Mombasa County.

In August 2019, officers surrounded Hamza Mohammed rented a one-bedroom house, and ordered neighbours to stay indoors before they stormed in.

Eight police officers raided the home of the suspected terrorist and pumped seven bullets in his head and chest.

Nyali Sub-County police commander Simon Thirikwa said Mohammed, 45, had hurled a hand grenade at the officers before he was gunned down.

Mr Mutharikwa said that officers were lucky the grenade did not detonate. Police later found materials used for making improvised explosive devices (IEDs).
