In a tweet on Friday, Mr Madowo mentioned that he had informed his team that he will be leaving but remained mum on his next step.

"A few weeks ago, I informed the team that I had decided to leave @theTrendLive," he tweeted.

The journalist did not divulge more on the matter but promised to lay the information bare in tonight's show.

"It's been a great run but it's time to move on. More tonight," he said.

Madowo has been hosting The Trend for over four years now after news anchor James Smart left NTV.

The show focuses on the trending topics of the week and celebrity interviews.

After Madowo made the announcement, his fans on social media were in disbelieve with many questioning where he was headed next.
