Man in court over alleged N335,000 fraud

An Ado-Ekiti Magistrates’ Court has granted a 32-year-old man bail in the sum of N50,000 over fraud charges.

A 32-year-old man,

The prosecutor, Sgt. Oriyomi Akinwale, told the court that the accused committed the offence between March 22, 2016 and April 19, 2016 at Ikole-Ekiti.‎

Akinwale alleged that the accused collected the amount from one Mrs Olarewaju Abigail with intent to defraud her.

He said the accused deceived the complainant that he would supply her a Toyota Corolla spot car for the amount.

He said the offence was contrary to and punishable under Section 419 of Criminal Code Cap. C16 Vol. 1 Laws of Ekiti State, 2012.

The prosecutor applied for a short adjournment to enable him study the case file.

The accused however pleaded not guilty.

The Magistrate, Mrs Taiwo Ajibade, granted bail to the accused in the sum of N50,000‎ with two sureties in like sum.

Ajibade ordered that the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and have a verifiable address.

The case was adjourned till April 3 for mention.
