3 women docked for allegedly beating up neighbour

Three women are facing a two-count charge of assault occasioning harm and assault causing bodily harm.

Three women charged with beating and using a plank to inflict their neighbour with an injury on the face, on Friday appeared in an Ebute-Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos.

The accused, Olatundun Olayieola, 38, Falilat Adepoju, 53 and Abiodun Ayanlade, 30, are facing a two-count charge of assault occasioning harm and assault causing bodily harm.

The Prosecutor, Sgt. Jimah Iseghede, told the court that the trio committed the offences on Feb. 27 at No. 9, Herbert Macaulay St., Ebute-Meta, Lagos.

“On the said day, the accused ganged up to beat one Jumoke Yusuf, their neighbour, before using a plank to inflict injury on her face,” he said.

The offences, he said, contravened Sections 173 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN)  reports that the accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against them.

The Magistrate, Miss A. T. Idowu,  granted them bail in the sum of N150,000, with two responsible and gainfully employed sureties in like sum.

She adjourned the case till April 17, for mention.
