A 72-year-oldman,
Yusuf, whose address was not given, is facing a charge of breach of peace.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Taiwo Adegoke, told court that the accused committed the offence on April 3 at Owotoyan area of Osogbo.
“The accused forcefully stopped bricklayers working on the complainant’s land and scuffle began which drew the attention of passersby.
“He could not give reasons why he had to stop the workers,’’ the prosecutor stated.
The offence contravened Sections 249 (d) and 517 of the Criminal Law of Osun State, 2003.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Counsel to the accused, Mr Sanusi Sanusi pleaded with court to grant his client bail on liberal terms.
The Magistrate, Mr Olusola Aluko, granted the accused bail in the sum of N100, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
Aluko said the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and should show evidence of tax payment to the Osun Government
The case was adjourned until June 13 for mention.
