The Prosecutor, Insp. Clement Okuoimose, said that the accused committed the offences on May 8 at Iju-Ishaga in Agege.
He said that the accused assaulted a policeman, Sgt. Isaiah Adamu, while he was performing his policing duties.
“The accused beat up the complainant who was acting in the execution of his duty.”
Okuoimose explained that the accused had violated the law and that the complainant wanted to arrest him but Nwadike resisted arrest.
“The accused plied one way and the complainant, who was in police uniform stopped him to arrest him.
“The accused, however, resisted arrest and instead, descended on the complainant and gave him thorough beating.
“He punched his mouth, giving him severe injury,” the prosecutor added.
According to him, the offences contravene Sections 168 and 174 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Section 174 prescribes four years imprisonment as penalty for assault.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty.
The Magistrate, Mr M.I. Dan-Oni, granted Nwadike bail in the sum of N50, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
He adjourned the case until May 30 for mention.
