Real knows real, so they say – and that truth echoed loudly when Kenyan rap heavyweight Khaligraph Jones gave a nod of approval to a rising star on 'The Next Super Star', a new singing competition.

The 'Mazishi' hitmaker set Instagram ablaze with a trail of fire emojis after witnessing a bold and poetic rap performance by 22-year-old Cosign Black, one of the show’s fiercest and most talked-about contenders.

Fans were quick to recognise the gesture for what it was – Khaligraph’s coveted 'OG stamp of approval.'

Known for his lyrical depth and commanding stage presence, Cosign Black did not disappoint. His performance resonated with both viewers and judges, earning him admiration from Kenyan music icons like King Kaka and producer Motif the Don.

“I didn’t expect the praises I have received today, and I thank God for the opportunity StarTimes has given me,” Cosign said after leaving the stage.

“It’s my time to shine. I’m competing alongside talents like Andy Saharan, Switney, Rouwa, Snaidah Don Dada, and Jose Jay. This is my chance to showcase my talent and make Kenyan music great.”

Size 8 Reborn moved to tears

While Cosign is commanding attention in the rap arena, 13-year-old Sheila Wanjiru is touching hearts with her powerful vocals and emotional depth.

During a recent episode, Sheila delivered a stunning performance that moved judge Size 8 Reborn to tears.

The young contestant, performing without formal training, received a standing ovation and an emotional promise from Size 8, who vowed to mentor her personally.

“You are truly blessed and highly favoured,” Size 8 told her. “Good girl, my daughter—sings. I will walk this journey with you. I know you don’t have a trainer, but from today, I’ll be your guide and support. You’re not alone anymore.”

Sheila’s performance became a standout moment in the show’s early episodes and a reminder of the platform’s deeper purpose unearthing talent and offering real guidance.
