The High Court has once again issued orders suspending the Nairobi gubernatorial by-election.

The orders were granted on Thursday following a petition filed by deputy governor nominee Anne Mwenda Kananu.

Previous orders had been issued after a petition filed by impeached Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko.

"The special gazette notice no 10914 dated December 21, 2020, issued by IEBC is hereby suspended until the hearing and determination of the amended notice of motion is heard and determined," the judge ruled at the time.

When Dennis Okari and Betty Kyallo walked down the aisle in a grand wedding, many thought it was a love story destined for happily ever after. However, Okari has revealed that he later realised Betty was never meant to be his wife. He admitted that he wished he had never gone through with the wedding, as it was an attempt to 'correct a wrong' rather than a decision rooted in God’s plan.

Justice Anthony Mrima ruled that the Gazette Notice announcing the upcoming by-election stands suspended pending the hearing and determination of the suit by Ms Kananu.

The Nairobi County Assembly is set to vet DG nominee Anne Kananu on Friday following the withdrawal of a petition which sought to oppose the process.

Should Kananu qualify to be the next DG of Nairobi, she could easily become its next Governor as well following the impeachment of Mike Sonko.
