The mistakes IEBC made in declaring Uhuru president-elect
This is likely to cost Mr Uhuru Kenyatta his second term presidency.

After suffering low turnout which settled at a meagre 43 per cent, IEBC has been questioned by a conglomerate of civil groups under Kura Yangu Sauti Yangu, a few days after the it opened its servers to all key players and giving its detailed explanation of how it arrived at the 7.4 million votes Mr Kenyatta garnered in the exercise that was rejected by Mr Odinga as a sham.
“The Commission has provided access rights to presidential candidates, agents and observers who made requests to the results transmission servers from the day of elections 26/10/2017 till results were declared,” IEBC Chairman Mr Wafula Chebukati said in an update through Twitter.
The group in a press conference in Nairobi on Thursday said that IEBC’s chairman Mr Wafula Chebukati had got his math wrong in the final declaration.

They argued that the figures announced by Mr Chebukati for three candidates varied from the calculations they made of the 47 counties that Mr Chebukati read, one by one.
“We noted unexplained differences between the biographic and biometric lists of voters, unexplained increases in the register after registration closed, the presence of more than a million dead voters in the final register and serious data gaps in the reference documents used to create the register,” the report by the Kura Yangu, Sauti Yangu group said.
Instead of the 7,483,895 votes declared for President Uhuru Kenyatta, the team added it up to 7,583,895, a 100,000 subtraction, with those of Ekuru Aukot and Mohamed Abduba Dida added by 100 and 10 votes to 21,333, and 14,107, respectively.
The group also faulted the declaration of results in six constituencies they said had not received all forms 34A – the result declaration form at the polling station. In his final declaration, Mr Chebukati acknowledged only a difference of 273 votes in the tallies between the polling stations, the constituency and national tallying centres.
“Posting errors were noted in original Form 34B against original Form 34A, thereby giving a variance of 273 votes. It will be noted that the overall total valid votes cast for all candidates was 7,616,217 as opposed to a total of 7,615,944 resulting in the above identified variance,” said Mr Chebukati when he announced the results.

The team also faulted the IEBC voter register, saying that it lacked a definitive number of registered voters.
The new twist comes few days after the IEBC gave out key data through the ICT fir OT-Morpho I regard to the 7.6 million people who took part in the repeat polls.
Earlier, IEBC, in a letter to a local daily, said that in actual sense, data showed that 7,575,806 voters were identified electronically by use of fingerprints in the October 26 polls, different from the August 8 scenario.
The data given by the polls team showed that there were 7,616,217 valid votes cast and 37,713 rejected votes, implying that at least 7,653,930 ballots were cast, different from Mr Odinga who initially put the figure at 3.5 million.
