Popular Kenyan boy band Sauti Sol on Thursday evening stepped on dangerous waters when they decided to mock the National Super Alliance (NASA) and the Jubilee Party on social media.

In a post the awarding band rubbished the slogans associated with the two political party noting they were empty.

“TIBIM, TIALALA & TANO TENA are all empty slogans with no data and development records attached to them. A critical mass of this country is simply uneducated that's why these things turn us on.

“But to be honest why aren't these battles about manifestos and track records? In this country as long as you have money you can fart and people will cheer,” the post read.

Sauti Sol was trolled the whole night and before knowing it they were among the top trends on Twitter in the country.

ODM top officials in charge of communication - Philip Etale and Seth Odongo (popularly known as DIKEMBE) - joined Kenyans in bashing the group for posting a tweet that has since been viewed as politically incorrect.

Etale mentioned that the tweet affirmed his reasons for not listening to music produced by Sauti Sol.

“When I told my frens two years ago that I don't listen to @sautisol music & that ad rather Heart the band or Sukuma bin Ongaro, they laughed,” he tweeted.

At the same time Dikembe opined that the group was simply being childish.

Embakasi East MP Babu Owino also joined in the bandwagon and asked the artists to stick to their craft and leave politics out of their discussions.

“Concentrate on singing young men,” the MP said.
