There was glitz and glamour as music sensation Diamond Platnumz was given the green light to launch his Wasafi TV and Radio stations.
The singer revealed through his Instagram that he had officially been handed broadcasting licenses for the two stations, by the Minister of Information, Culture, Tourism and Sports in Zanzibar.
“Today we were officially handed broadcasting license for and by the Minister of Information, Culture, Tourism and Sports Zanzibar, Hon. Rashid Ali Juma. Many thanks to the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar and the entire government of United Republic of Tanzania as a whole,” said Diamond.
The father of two said that his goal was to create jobs for talented young journalists as well as collaborating with the country’s media in developing talent from the streets in arts, sports and culture.
“Our goal is to create jobs for our journalists who are yet to be employed to appreciate that without them today we would not be here but also joint collaboration with our country Media in developing new talent from the streets in art, sports and Culture industry,” he said in his post.
Diamond thanked President John Pombe Magufuli and Dr. Ali Mohammed Shein the president of Zanzibar along with the Ministry of Information and Culture for according him the much needed help and allowing him to launch the TV and radio stations.
This comes at a time when Diamond has been given a media blackout by a section of Tanzanian Radio and TV stations after it was rumored that the singer had had a fallout with the Founder and CEO of Clouds Media Group Ruge Mutahaba who was accused to plotting to bring down all WCB signed artistes.
