It's not wrong to have sex during period – Janet Mbugua

Media Personality Janet Mbugua has said that it is not wrong to have sex when your female partner is on her menstrual cycle.

While responding to questions from her followers on YouTube, Janet said that it was the most asked question and she needed to address it.

She went on to say that she does not think it is wrong to have sex during period, but certain safety measures need to be taken like using protection to avoid pregnancy and Sexually Transmitted Infections.

The former Citizen TV news anchor however, noted that not everyone is okay with having sex during period.

I don’t think there’s anything wrong, I just think you have to take certain precautions, you have to have a towel, you have to make sure that you’ve covered the sheets I guess. Some people find it very messy but I don’t there is anything wrong per say in terms of is it a health risk etc. Just take precautions is what I would say and here is another thing I would say, have your partner wear a latex condom if possible. It will protect against pregnancy and STIs,” she said.

In the video, she also responded to other questions from her followers that are period related disclosing that she still experiences painful period to date, if she fails to take contraceptives.

I had a lot of pain during my periods, I still do and if I don’t take contraceptives I still have the pain. Ended up that I have ovarian cysts growing so I had a laparoscopy that was many years ago. Because my pain was so bad I felt like there was something wrong about that,” she said.
