Janet Mbugua announced her exit from Citizen TV during a news bulletin with Hussein Mohammed in 2017.

Her exit came after a decade as a broadcast journalist where half of that time was spent at Citizen. Since her exit, fans have been asking whether she will make a comeback to TV and they finally have their answer.

Dung a Q& A session with fans on her YouTube Channel, the mum of two disclosed that she is making a comeback to TV soon but not in the way we are used to seeing her.

“I am. (Making a comeback). Maybe not in the way that people were used to seeing me. That’s all I am gonna say about that,” she said.

Exit from TV

In a post on her blog in 2017, Janet went into specifics about what inspired her exit after 10 years. She disclosed that she needed a change of scenery, she wanted to spend more time with her family and wanted to focus on her passion projects.

“I know the moment is right for me to take a sabbatical; breathe, reflect, pursue my passion projects in earnest and spend time with my young family. It’s more ‘see you soon’ than ‘goodbye’.

I’m not going into specifics about what my next steps are, that’s not my style. What I can say for now is that I am in a space of renewal and rebirth, without wanting to sound too perceptible. It’s as metaphorical as it is literal,” read part of her farewell message.
