In a tweet, Ms. Muthengi said that no one should believe anything they read about her unless they hear her speaking about it on live TV or on Radio.
She went on to say that it was not the first time it had happened and it definitely will not be the last.
“Dawg, unless you hear me say it out of my own mouth on a live TV/Radio interview do NOT believe that sh*t. People will write all sorts of things and call themselves journalists. Not the 1st time it's happened, I'm sure it won't be the last. But hey, #BecauseTheInternet,” she said.
Exaggerated
In another tweet, Joey who currently works with the Voice of America (VoA) said that the local daily that ran the story exaggerated what she had said in her interview on Unwritten.
“That's some BS clickbait taken waaay out of context. I no longer stand by that blog that 'interviewed' me,” she tweeted.
Her words came after a local daily claimed that she got depressed and suicidal because of her cheating mzungu boyfriend.
Joey Muthengi had earlier on opened up to Yvonne Aoll on how she found out through Facebook that the only man she loved had gotten married.
According to her, the issue got her depressed for long, not even her family understood her.
She added that they had other priorities in life and they were always on different parts of the world.
