Mercy is a two-time world junior champion in 2008 and 2010. She scooped gold medals at the Commonwealth wealth youth Games 2008. She has also been a success junior athlete in cross country games taking the silver medals in the junior team and individual competitions at World Cross Country Championship.
However, Cherono made her first international appearance at the 2007 IAAF World cross Champion held in Mombasa where she finished 23rd in the junior race.
The world class runner was featured in True Love magazine in January 2017.
The ‘Golden girl’ attributes her beauty to healthy eating. ‘Mursik’ is always in her diet and she exercises regularly.
