5 smart ways to avoid gaining weight during the holidays

We all know how hard it can be to lose weight and no one really wants to start the New Year struggling to shed off weight because they over did it during the holidays.

The food is there in plenty and it’s almost impossible for people to resist the urge to indulge – what’s the harm in gaining a kg or two anyway?

You don’t have to fall into the holiday weight gain trap again because there are ways to make sure you enjoy yourself and still maintain that hot beach bod you worked all year for.

1.Only eat when you’re hungry

I know that little greedy monster tends to come out and play during the holiday season but you’ll know how badly you’ve been deceived when you’re sweating it out in the gym the next year.

Holiday parties have a lot of different foods lying around and as mouth-watering as that chicken looks – even after you’ve eaten – you’re going to have to rely on your self-control to stop you from hogging out.

Learn to eat only when you’re hungry and actually need to eat something.

P.S: Don’t overeat either.

2.Keep up with your exercise routine

Just because it’s the holiday season doesn’t mean you shouldn’t keep up with your exercising routine.

It’s illogical to try lose weight during the holiday season so what you can do is maintain it but sticking to your normal exercising regime.

3.Avoid over drinking

Treat alcohol as a way to enhance your holiday mood instead of something you won’t be able to have after the holidays.

Not only does alcohol contain a lot of calories but it also lowers your inhibitions making it hard for you to control what you eat – we all know how good kuku pono tastes after a night out.

Plus make sure to stay hydrated as well.

4.Chew slowlyGobbling down food within minutes could make you gain extra weight. According to WebMD, your brain doesn’t have enough time to process that you are full when you eat too quickly so you’ll end up over eating.

Try eat slowly so that you can tell when you’ve had enough.
