Lucky escape for officers on the road

Wreckage of the police vehicle from Lafey Police Station, Mandera County

Fifteen police officers were injured after their vehicle was involved in an accident as they travelled to Nairobi from Mandera County.

Police reports indicated that the Sunday accident was as a result of a tyre bust that caused the vehicle to roll severally.

The driver and some of the officers suffered head injuries and fractured hands.

Lafey OCPD Antony Nderitu explained that all the officers were from Lafey Police Station and were travelling to the capital city for different reasons.

“I am aware of the accident involving our officers who were headed to Nairobi for different reasons including work,” stated Nderitu.

The injured were rushed to Sololo Mission Hospital for treatment while the wreckage was towed to Sololo police station.
