Jubilee party candidate in the Kibra by-election, McDonald Mariga was on Thursday after noon chased out of Ayany polling station where he had visited along with some Jubilee party leaders.

An angry mob gathered around the polling station and begun to agitate for the candidate to vacate the premises.
The mob soon got impatient and started throwing stones at Mariga and his team which included Kapsaret MP Oscar Sudi and Kericho Senator Aaron Cheruiyot.
The first-time election candidate was forced to board his vehicle and speed off amid gunshots by police officers who tried to disperse the angry mob.
Police later arrested one person who is said to have been caught throwing stones at the Jubilee party convoy.

The election kicked off at 6 a.m. on Thursday morning with a few hitches experienced by IEBC officials in operating KIEMS kits in some polling stations.
Voter bribery incidents were also reported at a number of polling stations in the constituency and a handful of suspects were arrested by police.
Former Senator Boni Khalwale also experienced violent confrontations with Kibra residents who accused him of voter bribery.
