The man identified as Laban Wekesa is being held at Karuri Police Station in Kiambaa Sub county.
Wekesa is said to be part of a notorious gang that has been terrorizing women in the County.
Divulging the information, the area police boss Wilberforce Scharani stated the serial rapist and his crew used to masquerade as women so that their victims could not suspect them.
They would then walk alongside the unsuspecting women then strategically draw their weapons, steal from them and rape them in the process.
“They would waylay women who were returning home late in the night and with the female dressing, the targets would even comfortably walk alongside them oblivious of their intentions.
“Somewhere along the way, the suspect would draw knives to intimidate and rape them before making away with their money and any other valuables,” Mr. Scharani was quoted by the Nation.
Mr. Scharani added that two of his victims had already positively identified Wekesa.
“Already, we have five cases which we will file against him in court. Already we have two complainants who have already recorded statements and are expecting the remaining ones to come on board,” he said.
Wekesa was apprehended alongside his two accomplices following a tip off the officers received.
According to police, the thugs were also involved in robbery in Muchatha and Ruaka.
When police raided Wekesa’s house in Muchatha they found stolen items, including flat screen TV sets, computers, mobile phones, gas cylinders, and decoders, among other household goods.
