Machakos Governor has taken many Kenyans by surprise after announcing that he will vie for Presidency.

Speaking during the launch of his re-election manifesto, the Governor said that he would vie for the top seat come the 2022 elections.
He said that he had what it takes to seek the country’s top seat; adding that he made extensive consultations with various elders and leaders before settling on the decision.
“I have traversed across the country and people tell me they want rapid development .That is why I have accepted their call that I ran for the presidency come 2022,” said Mutua.
Mutua labelled his manifesto as thorough, stating that it was a pilot program of what will be done to make people’s lives better.
The manifesto was launched on Thursday morning at the Machakos University with its main theme being “Propelling Machakos from the third world to the first world”.
Among key things that it focuses on include the construction of the Machakos International Airport with special import and export zones.
Alfred Mutua will be seeking to regain Machakos' top seat in the August 8th general elections but faces tough competition from his bitter rival and Wiper gubernatorial candidate Wavinya Ndeti.
