Mr Odinga admitted that him together with other powerful politicians in the Orange party, worked hand-in-hand to rig the nominations in favour of his cousin and Gem MP, Jakoyo Midiwo.

The legislator said this after Midiwo abandoned ODM and decided to run as an independent candidate during the August 8 General Election.

At the recently concluded ODM primaries, Mr Midiwo lost to one Elisha Odhiambo, a win that Odinga's cousin disputed.

Speaking during a political rally in Gem, Oburu divulged since Mr Odhiambo lost unfairly to Midiwo in 2013, the Gem MP should quit the race and offer his support.

"He conceded defeat. Midiwo should follow cue this time after losing to the same candidate."

Mr Odinga stated the Midiwo had no chance of beating Odhiambo as an independent candidate.

"The National Assembly deputy minority leader’s chances of recapturing the seat are nil. Jakoyo should forget about recapturing his seat since he has fallen out with ODM party," Oburu said.

He urged Midiwo to emulate his example and concede defeat. Oburu lost the ODM ticket for the Bond parliamentary seat to incumbent Gideon Ochanda.

"If I ceded ground and accepted defeat when nobody would have done nothing if I chose to say, why not our disgruntled colleagues?" Oburu posed.
