President Uhuru Kenyatta on Wednesday issued a stern warning to Kenyans five days to the August 8 General Election.

Speaking during a campaign rally, Kenyatta cautioned voters against staying around the polling station after casting their votes.

The Head of State emphasized that every voter should go home after voting.

Kenyatta’s remarks come after NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga instructed his supporters to stay at polling stations and guard the votes.

Under the Adopt-a-Polling Station initiative, Mr Odinga called on Opposition’s supporters to make sure that the votes are not rigged by staying vigilant.

Despite warnings by Interior and Coordination acting Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i against pitching camp at polling stations, the former Prime Minister has insisted that the Opposition will continue with their plan.

According to IEBC regulations only accredited person are to stay at the polling station after the voting process.

IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati divulged that this was necessary in order to prevent chaos.
