Ole Lenku emerges from 'thick cloud of smoke' to lead in Kajiado

Former Interior Cabinet Secretary, Joseph Ole Lenku has had the last laugh if the provincial results streaming in are anything to go by.

The former hotelier, who exited the ministry of interior under a cloud of controversy after Mandera terror attack in 2014, was nominated to carry the Jubilee’s flag in Kajiado during its nominations.

Since then has been quietly campaigning and sure enough he has emerged from a thick cloud of smoke to take an early lead in Kajiado county.

According to IEBC provincial results, Ole Lenku who is running on a Jubilee ticket has garnered 155,004 (54.27%) compared to the incumbent. David Ole Nkediaye on an ODM ticket who has managed to garner 127,047 (44.48%)

Daniel Livondo running on PNU ticket is distant third with 3,557 votes.

By the time of going to press, 704 out of 797 polling stations had relayed their votes to the national tallying center in Bomas of Kenya.

2885,608 valid votes were cast and 4,175 votes were rejected while 225 votes are disputed.
