Governor makes tough request to Matiang'i

On Wednesday Matiang'i ordered all students to report to form one slots.

Just after KNEC on Wednesday announced the cancellation of results for nine schools among them Ortum Boys and St Cecilia Chepareria Girls over cheating, the governor has now told the CS to hold the principals accountable, by stopping their transfer to new schools.

"The principals knew the mess they had done in their previous schools. That’s why they hurried left to their current stations," the KANU governor said while at Kachepmogen secondary school on Wednesday.

He added: "We rejected Ortum Boys principal being transferred to Chewoyet because his performance was questionable.”

Early this first term, Ortum Boys High Principal Jonathan Siwanyang was transferred to Chewoyet Boys while Mary Ruto of Chepareria Girls was transferred to St Joseph Girls in Trans Nzoia County.

"Matiang'i should not pretend to know much. He should consult with local leaders before transferring teachers," he said.

Meanwhile, CS Matiang’i and other Education Ministry officials reiterated that the new changes would not be reversed, even as mass rejections of new principals dig in.

Last week, Bungoma County’s Friends School Kamusinga Boys’ new principal Alex Maina was kicked out of school on his first day after a number of MCAs stormed his office. The four, however, have been produced in court for violently causing disturbance.
