Fresh Twist in Ken Okoth's DNA Dispute

Okoth's widow had disputed results

Anne Thumbi and Monicah Okoth

Ken Okoth's DNA dispute between his widow Monica and nominated MCA Anne Thumbi has come to an end.

The court heard that the DNA test conducted on the nominated MCA's son proved that the late MP was the father.

Okoth's widow also accepted the result despite having stated that she was not satisfied with the DNA test results.

While making formal submissions on whether she had accepted the September 5, 2019, outcome, Monica said she had commissioned independent DNA tests on Okoth and Thumbi’s son but the results were not yet out.

Battle in court

She requested to be given 20 days but the magistrate directed that she be given 15 days to confirm whether the outcome would be different.

Initially, DNA results showed that Ken Okoth is the biological father of a son to the nominated MCA.

The results showed a 99.9 percent match on samples taken from Okoth’s body and those of the minor whose paternity was disputed when the MP succumbed to cancer.

Family lawyers Danstun Omari and Elkana Mogaka had told journalists that DNA was conducted in three different laboratories both in Kenya and abroad and gave similar results.

The lawyers said they have subsequently filed reports and affidavit in support of the pending application.
