Chepkwony has been sued by Kapsoit Ward MCA Paul Kibiegon Chirchir on accusations of misusing his office to seek sexual favours, misuse of public funds, and nepotism.
In his suit, the MCA listed several instances where Chepkwony allegedly hired his girlfriends and relatives without regard for due process.
According to the MCA, the governor, who is a former Professor of Chemistry at Moi University, hired campus girlfriends to high-profile jobs.

Kibiegon sensationally told the court that the Kericho county boss was also engaged in an extra-marital sexual affair with Ms Kikwai - the area Deputy Governor.
The MCA says that the affair nearly led to Chepkwony’s impeachment by the Kericho County Assembly during his first term.
In response to the suit, the Governor submitted a replying affidavit where he dismissed the claims made by Chirchir, but failed to address the alleged affair with his deputy.
Ms Kikwai is a former Managing Director of the Kenya Investment Authority.

She lost her job in 2011 after she was charged with abuse of office involving a Sh3.24 million tender.
