ODM goes after Echesa after publicly humiliating Raila

Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party youth on Tuesday responded to Sports Cabinet Secretary Rashid Echesa after embarrassing remarks he made directed towards their party leader Raila Odinga.

Speaking during a press conference, the Orange Young Democrats League led by John Ketorawarned Mr. Echesa against dragging Mr. Odinga’s name in his woes at the Cabinet.

Last week, the Sports CS accused the former Prime Minister of orchestrating his dismissal.

Ketora described Echesa’s allegations as baseless and advised him to plan on how to improve the Sports Ministry.

"Ignorance"

"Mr. Echesa’s remarks last weekend that Hon. Odinga is planning to sack him from the cabinet are laughable, childish and made out of ignorance. Mr. Echesa knows very well the person who appointed him to Cabinet

"He (Echesa) was appointed to serve Kenyans. We urge him to concentrate on improving the lives of sportsmen and women in Kenya and also improve sports and stadia in the country. We just want to remind him that he is not a village Minister. He must leave H.E. Raila Odinga out of his woes," the Orange Young Democrats League official said.

Ketora wondered why Echesa was now attacking Odinga yet he received help from the Opposition leader when h was a newbie in politics.

"Mr. Echesa grew up politically under the wings of the man he is now insulting and calling names in public. He was the Youth Leader. Then, Hon. Odinga was a good man. Today, he can shamelessly afford to hurl insults at him,” the youth remarked.

There has been speculations that Mr Echesa could be removed from the Cabinet because of his education qualifications.
