Julius Mawathe declared winner of Embakasi South constituency by-election, trouncing ODM's Irshard Sumra

Julius Mawathe of Wiper Party has been declared the winner of the Embakasi South parliamentary by-election.

IEBC Returning Officer Abdullahi Ahmed made the announcement on Saturday morning, bringing an end to the exercise that saw ODM and Wiper party under the NASA coalition embroiled in a bitter rivalry.

Mawathe floored his closest rival –ODM’s Irshard Sumra by 13,640 votes.

Reports indicate that Mawathe garnered 21,628 votes while Irshad Sumra got a paltry 7,988 votes.
