Six suspects who were arrested in connection with a Sh72 million heist last week have been released from police custody.
The suspects were presented in court on Monday and charged with robbery with violence.
Pleading not guilty to charges, the courts granted the six Sh1 million bond each and they were released from police custody.
The robbery was carried out by three men who are said to have been in police uniform, masquerading as the appointed security escort for the cash-in-transit carriers.
2 police officers arrested
A day after the heist, police recovered 13 money bags and an abandoned G4S van in Thogoto Forest, Kikuyu Constituency.
DCI officers on Saturday, however, caught up with two members of the National Police Service believed to have been part of the heist.
Constable Chris Ayienda Machogu was found with Ksh4 million in his possession while Constable Vincent Owuor had Sh3 million at his house in Kendu Bay.
"Detectives investigating the matter have established - and the suspect confirmed - that a Subaru Forester was bought on the same day of the Heist using the stolen Money. The two suspects were planning to travel to Uganda with the cash," a statement from DCI read in part.
Other suspects in the case include some G4S employees.
